One of my old small guitar amps is a Kay that looks like an oversized radio from the 20s. Its design looks so old, it makes the old Fender amps look recent. It has curvy art deco wood grillework like an old radio. It's taller than it is wide. It has a 12" Rolo speaker. It's the most beautiful amp I've seen. I've never seen anything remotely like it. It has inputs for mic (a weird screw-on connector) and instrument. It has a "Normal/Hi-Fi" switch, and a tone knob. 2 1/4" input jacks. Nice warm-colored finished wood. The back has a panel that drops out and down.

Ever heard of such an amp? It's really hard to date. Maybe it was a retro model made in the modern early 50s?

I've played it loud for only a couple minutes. I lined up 6 15 watt amps and played them loudly, one at a time. This was one of the good ones. It's the only 15 watt amp I've had with a 12" speaker. Hopefully I'll get a chance to play it loud soon. From what I've heard of it so far, it's a serious guitar amp. I still have to secure the back better -- very poor design there; the thin, hinged back panel is bound to get cracked and rattle.

The tubes are not exposed, so it will be hard to aim a fan at them to keep them cool when I push the amp hard.
